What is microblading?

This is the process of infusing pigment into the skin to simulate the appearance of natural hair. It is considered a tattoo, and permanent makeup. Although it is considered permanent makeup, it fades over time. Touchups are suggested once a year in order to keep the color fresh and shape precise.

Microblading is meant to be a subtle natural enhancement, and to create fuller more beautiful brows. It looks most natural on clients who already have semi full brow hair, and are wanting to perfect their shape. The more hair you have, the more natural it will appear.

Microblading heals best on young, healthy, and dry/normal skin.

Oily skin and aging/thin skin is not recommended for microblading. Results will not heal as well, or look as natural. If you are in this category, you would be a better candidate for the combination or ombre brow.

How can I book an appointment?
After reading my FAQ, please email me a photo of your brows or lips (no makeup, full face and up close), to info@artsofattraction.com
What is lip blush?

This is the process of infusing pigment into the lips to create perfectly shaped, natural pink lips.

It does not make lips fuller as injections would, but they will look slightly bigger as we enhance your vermilion border.

Please exfoliate daily and moisturize lips 1 week prior to appointment.

If you have experienced cold sores in the past, you will need to be on valtrex before your appointment.

When should I book my first touchup?
Please make sure to schedule your touchup at the same time as booking your initial appointment. Appointment can be anywhere between 4-6 weeks. This touchup is included in the initial price.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 48 hours notice to make any changes to your appointment.
What are your forms of payment?

We prefer cash, and accept credit cards.

What is ombre and combination brow?
This is the process of infusing pigment into the skin to simulate the appearance of filled in brows. This is perfect for clients who are perfectionists!! Combination brow is done with hair strokes at the head of the brow, and then the rest filled in. This is a beautiful look for all skin types, and heals very soft and beautiful.
How long will my semi-permanent cosmetics last?
Cosmetic tattooing is designed to fade over time. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of the tattoo. The sun and some kinds of lighting (tanning beds) can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. To take care of your brows follow the aftercare instructions and touch-up your brows every 12-18 months (as needed). Touch-ups are normal and expected for permanent cosmetics.

Please note that final results vary and cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A follow-up appointment is recommended at 4-8 weeks where we can assess your pigment retention and make any changes necessary.

What factors will affect my permanent cosmetics?

Oily skin: increased oil production can cause hairstrokes to blur and heal lighter and powdery.

Smoking: smokers may notice that their semi-permanent cosmetics will fade faster.

Anemia and iron deficiency: your body will absorb these iron based pigments more quickly.

Sun exposure: increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading. You will want to use a special sunscreen for your semi-permanent cosmetics; I recommend color guard. You can find it on amazon.

Age and metabolism. The faster your metabolism the faster the pigment will fade.

Bleeding during the procedure: excessive bleeding during your procedure will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow before care instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood thinning medications, alcohol, and caffeine 24 hours before your procedure.

Microblading Aftercare

Gently blot the area with clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 5 minutes for the full day until oozing has stopped. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph.

Days 1-7: Wash
Wash daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. (Don’t worry….THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap like Dial Soap, Cetaphil or Neutrogena. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.

Days 1-7 Moisturize
Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment that we provide you with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing or even pull the ink out. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.

Important Reminders

– Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week
– Use a fresh pillowcase
– Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color
– No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks
– Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.
– Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days.
– Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days
– Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs for the first 10 days
– Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area
– DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area

Important note about showering:
**Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the very last end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine you will have much better results with your microblading procedure!**

How should I prepare for my appointment?

If you tint your brows you will want to do so 72 hours before your appointment.

You must not use retin-a near the brow area 2 weeks before or after the procedure.

You will need to avoid water for 7 -10 days after! This includes excessive sweating, pools, lakes, salt water, and extreme sun exposure, so plan your vacations accordingly!

No botox, fillers, microdermabrasion, chemical peels or anything of the like for at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure, and also two weeks after.

What to avoid doing before your procedure!
Doing any of the following will cause excessive bleeding during your procedure and will hinder your final result!!

Do not work out the day of your appointment.

You should not take any medications that may thin your blood (I.E. Aspirin, ibproferen) 72 hours before or immediately after your procedure.

Do not drink alcohol within 24 hours of your procedure.

Avoid caffeine for 12 hours before your procedure. (caffeine increases blood flow and will effect your healed results).

What can I expect immediately after my appointment?
In the hours following your procedure your brows will appear much darker and bolder than it will heal due to oxidation in the surface layer of your skin. Your brows could also appear warmer in color. You may experience some redness or swelling around the treated area, this typically disappears within 48 hours.

Around day 3 you may notice some flaking or light scabbing on the treated area, do not pick at it, doing so can result in loss of pigment in those areas. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished healing. You may notice that some areas may appear very light or even to have lost pigment entirely after they have peeled, the epidermis will be thicker causing muting, hiding or diffusing of pigment underneath. The epidermis will normalize over the next 4-6 weeks and softened pigment should appear more clearly on surface of the skin.

At 4-6 weeks your brows will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your touch up appointment or if you’d prefer darker, bolder brows we can always add more color or dimension during that appointment!

What will my home care be?
Wash morning and night for 7 days with gentle cleanser! Wash within 4 hours of getting brows done. (make sure to wash outside shower. Look in the mirror while washing so you can make sure to be extra gentle. Only wipe gently in the direction of hair growth, no circles or hard rubbing. Wash will warm or cool water, and pat dry with clean paper towel).

Keep dry (besides washing) until completely healed. Aka no scabbing or flaking left! Usually 10 days.

Clients still need to keep dry in the shower… Steamy hot showers will cause the pores to open and scabs soften, so to be cautious, no extra steamy hot showers!! Avoid the water especially shampoo and conditioner running down.. That’ll cause color discoloration!

No excessive sweating

No sauna, hot tub, pool, ocean, etc.

Do not pick, rub, or scratch scabs! Avoid sleeping on face.

Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks.

No anti aging or acne products on them ever!! Will cause fading very quickly.
This is anything with chemical exfoliants such as retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, etc.

Balm 2 times daily with q-tip! If client is oily, 1 times daily. Usually takes about 10 days or more!

Do I need a touch-up/follow-up appointment?

Microneedling Aftercare
Once you have had the procedure done, do the following

DO NOT EXPOSE YOURSELF TO THE SUN
After you have undergone your microneedling procedure, stay out of the sun and do not apply any sunscreen, due to the toxins that may be contained in the lotion. Post procedure, the skin channels are completely open, and any toxins contained in topical applicants may be harmful to you.

DO NOT USE ANY “ACTIVE INGREDIENT” SKIN PRODUCTS
Post procedure, avoid any skin care product that has active ingredients. These commonly include things like Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Retinol and other similar agents. The skin will be highly sensitive and these products will only irritate the it further.

AVOID THE USE OF MAKEUP AFTER TREATMENT
It is imperative that you let your skin “breathe” and recover for 24 hours after the procedure. The skin channels are open, and using a makeup brush can penetrate the pores, especially if they are very thin, causing further irritation. Using a makeup brush that has been used before can contaminate the skin and, consequently, lead to infections. Wait 24 to 48 hours before you apply face makeup to give your skin the necessary recovery time.

AVOID SWEATING
As you sweat the pores of your skin will reopen, and the bacteria on your skin may enter the skin punctures. This can lead to a either a reaction or infection.

DRINK WATER
It is important to stay hydrated before and after your procedure to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster.

Tattoo Removal Aftercare
KEEP THE TREATED AREA CLEAN AND DRY. Any moisture to the treated area may result in an infection or an undesirable result.

TIPS TO KEEP DRY:

1. KEEP THE TREATED AREA CLEAN AND DRY. Any moisture to the treated area may result in an infection or an undesirable result. Do not cover the area with a Band-Aid or anything else, leave open to air. Air/oxygen provides good and faster healing. You should not be touching the area at all but if you find yourself needing to please make sure your hands are exceptionally clean.

2. DO NOT SOAK. Do not soak the treated area in water. You may shower as normal but keep the area out of the shower spray the best that you can and not let the area stay wet from more than a few seconds. NO soaking in water of the scab will be destroyed.

3. NO BATHING. No swimming, saunas, hot tubs, tanning or intense exercise.

4. DO NOT disrupt the scabbing process (i.e. no picking, scratching, etc.) All scabbing needs to fall off naturally/ If you force or pick a scab off, you will disrupt the process and possibly cause scarring.

5. TREAT AREA WITH TLC. The edges can be wiped clean from any dripping blood, the site should be left alone and not get wet for 24 hours. Once the scab is formed, bathing is normal but wash the area gently with the fingers and soap and rinse. Keep the area clean and absolutely no creams, nothing applied. Leave it alone. If it itches and it is a safe area other than around the eyes, dab with a little bit of alcohol.

6. ONCE ALL SCABBING HAS NATURALLY FALLEN OFF, apply one drop of APO Aftercare or Vitamin E Oil three times per day, throughout the day, every day, for a minimum of 4 weeks, or until next removal session. DO NOT start applying the Vitamin E oil UNTIL all scabbing has completely fallen off. It is our goal to keep the area as dry as possible, until all scabs have naturally fallen off.

7. LIPS (Liner Only) please drink all liquids with a straw until all scabbing has naturally fallen off. No whitening or peroxide toothpastes should get on the scab. Cut food into small bites, try not to bite directly into a sandwich. Try to keep mouth expressions to a minimum. It is important to the process and the integrity of the skin that 4 full weeks of healing take place before another removal session can be done. No exceptions! Tattoo Removal is long process and patience is required. Please be patient and give the process a fair chance to work. Expect visible and wanted results in 3 – 6 sessions. The number of sessions needs will depend on how saturated the ink is, how deep it was implanted and how much needs to be removed for the desired result.
