Neurotoxin injections, such as Botox and Xeomin temporarily reduce underlying muscle activity to prevent and treat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Repetitive movements, such as frowning, squinting, smiling, laughing and smoking are some of the facial expressions that use muscle contraction; causing the fine lines to be more prominent over time.

What is a lip flip?
A lip flip is a quick, in-office cosmetic procedure that lasts about 10 to 20 minutes. It involves the injection of Botox into your Cupid’s bow, which is the middle of your upper lip, and into the corners of your mouth. The injection temporarily relaxes the muscles around your lip. This causes the part of your upper lip that’s inside your mouth to “flip” upward and outward, giving your lip a fuller appearance.
How long do neurotoxins last?
Most neurotoxins take up to 14 days to fully kick in and last 3-4 months on average, with results occasionally lasting up to six months and results decline gradually over time.
What can I expect right after being treated?
- Treatment requires minimal downtime. You can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave your specialist’s office.
- You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines. Full results can take up to a week to unfold.
- Redness, tenderness, and swelling, or “bee stings” may occur and should disappear in 24 hours.
- Bruising is common. An ice pack can be used for relief and could take up to 2 weeks to disappear.
